Radiance Women of Grace: Beth Moore "Revelation" Week 1

Last night was the opening of the Beth Moore's "Revelation" study among Radiance Women of Grace ministry in my church, Grace Community Church. This is my first time to attend a gathering like this. Thanks to my beloved husband who encouraged me to join this church community group of faithful women. He's actually volunteering for the Kid's Night Out that also falls every Wednesday, so the setup is so perfect for both of us. Besides, our daughter would be able to be around and socialize with kids her age. Going back to Radiance women ministry, I knew that there's this group in our church, but I was so complacent of the idea and the will to be a part of it. But last night, I finally did!

There were 6 women in our group. Our leader Barbara is such a very sweet and adorable woman. She greeted me with a hug. Every person in our group was very nice. I feel the presence of Jesus Christ in them and with them. We got to share a little bit of something about each of us—the things we like to do in our free time. Of course my answer was writing/blogging. Two women like to do puzzles, one loves to read, the other one enjoys exercising, and one takes pleasure in doing nothing :).

Fresh fruits, wafers, and cookies were our treats on the table. I presume, Barb brought the snacks to munch as we go through our study. We each signed and commit to bring treats at the dates we chose, and I will be bringing treats twice during the entire course of the study. November 9 and November 30. I have to jot those dates down or I will make my group go hungry.

Beth Moore's "Revelation" is the subject that we will be tackling for 10 weeks. Each one of us were given a book where we can take down notes and write in our weekly assignments. The video of the speaker is played on the big screen, and we get the significant points from there through her teaching. Last night of course was the introduction of the subject matter. We studied Revelation 1:1-8 and other few verses in the Bible.

We ended up with a prayer and giving out our prayer requests to the person on our right. We took it home with us and include the requests during our private prayer time. Interceding for someone is very fulfilling. I love that God gave me this privilege to pray for the needs of someone I do not know.

I am quite grateful that my husband suggested for me to join the session. I am quite grateful that I didn't say "no." I am excited and looking forward of God's revelations to me all throughout this study. To Him be the glory!

Serving Vacation Bible School

My husband and I were given the privilege again to volunteer for our church's Vacation Bible School (VBS) this year. The activity was almost 3 weeks ago (June 13-17). This year he played a bigger role as the Games Director. He was the overall in-charge for the games group (except the pre-school). His responsibility was much greater compared to last year.

Meanwhile, I decided to volunteer in the pre-school crafts instead of joining my husband in games. During our meeting, after I saw that there were many volunteers for the games, I thought that I could serve more by helping the people in crafts. I was so happy with my decision because indeed I was happier to have extended my help on the task I am more passionate about. I love crafts. I love making crafts.

We encountered few problems during the first two days and was able to resolve everything until the last day of VBS. I was assigned in the Benjamin Tribe which was mainly composed of 3-year-old boys and girls. During my craft time with them, I learned lessons like what a 3 year olds can and cannot do when it comes to craft-making. I gained friendship with the children. Most of them were excited to make crafts, except for this one boy whom I had to come up with tricks first before he gets interested to make his own project. Day 1 we made angels made of paper plates, cotton balls, and googly eyes; Day 2 we made sheep made of tissue roll, cotton balls, foam and googly eyes; Day 3 was a donkey almost the same material as the sheep; Day 4 sun catchers; Day 5, stickers.

See? We're wearing the same costume :)
Like mother, like daughter.
My little girl enjoying her time with other kids her age.
Our daughter had a great time too. She joined other kids her age and were taken cared of by fabulous ladies of whom I got to know better during the whole week. Food was amazing this year for both the volunteers and the participants. I heard that most of the food were donated (God bless the donors). Our food team were quite excellent in doing their job. Everyday, they served us really good food. My favorite was the egg fritata. A lot were so crazy about the monkey bread too. Decorations were awesome. I commend the people who were behind it.

My husband had encountered some challenges along the way. Most of it were minor injuries during the games and some volunteers in his team who needed more guidance. But overall, he did a great job in leading a team. I am so proud of him.

It was an awesome experience. This year I felt like I have helped more than last year. Aside from that, I was able to get to know more people in our church and slowly building a beautiful relationship with them. I thank my God for this amazing privilege to serve His church. To Him be the glory!

Serving Vacation Bible School

I'm excited for our church's yearly Vacation Bible School next week. Why not? My husband and I volunteered to serve the event. It's going to be our first time to join church activity such as this. I miss outdoor activities and I miss serving the church. This will be a great opportunity for us to meet, serve, and create friendship with people who will be joining the affair.

As far as I know, VBS is a summer event done annually by our church for children from kindergarten to 6th grade. Therefore, this occasion is specifically created for kids! Adults will be there to serve and supervise them. VBS is a great moment for kids to learn the Word of God combined with various indoor and outdoor activities. I would know more for sure about this activity after my actual experience.

My husband and I will be attending a training tomorrow. We decided to choose "Recreation" wherein most of the activities will be done outside. I have one concern about it because our temperature is already rising up to 100°+. Totally hot and dry. But we'll see how things go. It would be for 5 days and thankfully it's only from 9 in the morning to 12 noon. Couldn't wait for VBS to start. I'm ready to GO!
